Wildlife Trusts

There are more Wildlife Trusts nature reserves in the UK than branches of McDonalds, and most people live within a few miles of one of these special wild places. The Wildlife Trusts work with partners and local communities to create more wildlife and more wild places, from mountain tops to the seabed, and in our towns and cities. 

Each year, The Wildlife Trusts run around 10,000 inspiring wildlife events, from city nature festivals to walks and talks in woods and meadows. They help people improve their health and wellbeing through nature-based activities and they are one of the UK's leading providers of outdoor learning and education for all ages - reaching 500,000 children each year.

Funding from players of People's Postcode Lottery enables The Wildlife Trusts to:

• protect amazing wild places and wildlife, such as ospreys in Scotland and dolphins off the coast of Wales,
• transform the lives of thousands of inner-city children by providing opportunities to explore nature, experience wildlife and build their confidence outdoors,
• create outdoor learning areas and train teachers to deliver lessons outdoors, so thousands of children can learn in a fun, hands-on way, and
• empower people of all ages to help wildlife in their daily lives.

Wherever you are, your local Wildlife Trust is saving wildlife and wild places, and helping people get closer to nature. The Wildlife Trusts look after more than 2,300 nature reserves and operate more than 100 visitor and education centres in every part of the UK, on Alderney and the Isle of Man. Each Wildlife Trust is an independent charity, formed by people getting together to make a positive difference to wildlife and future generations.
