The Ramblers

The Ramblers helps everyone, everywhere enjoy walking and protects the places we all love to walk.

The Ramblers is the only charity dedicated to looking after paths and green spaces, leading walks, opening up new places to explore and encouraging everyone to get outside and discover how walking boosts your health and your happiness.

Since 1935 it has worked to protect and expand the places where we all love to walk, as well as bringing walking to new audiences through its vast range of led group walks (47,000 annually), self-guided routes and annual Festival of Winter Walks. The Ramblers Walking for Health programme supports 63,000 people weekly to get outside to aid their recovery from long-term conditions and improve their fitness and wellbeing.

As walking is the most accessible form of exercise the benefits are endless. It's good for your health, lifts your mood, is a sociable activity you can do with family or friends, and it's a great way to meet new people. It also counts towards the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity people should be doing every week.

Across 2019 and 2020, with support from our players, The Ramblers work will include launching a campaign to save historic public paths from being lost, training hundreds of its volunteers in first aid, and helping more 18 to 25 year olds in Scotland to develop their skills. This will help in building their confidence and to support them to get outdoors more often.

Together with your support the Ramblers will be creating happier healthier communities.
