Postcode Care Trust

Royal National Institute of Blind People

The Royal National Institute of Blind People is one of the UK's leading sight loss charities.

Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is one of the UK's leading sight loss charities and the largest community of blind and partially sighted people.

RNIB is a catalyst for change – inspiring people with sight loss to transform their own personal experience, their community and, ultimately, society as a whole. Their focus is on giving people the help, support and tools they need to realise their aspirations.

Everyday 250 people begin to lose their sight. RNIB has a crucial role to play in creating a world where there are no barriers to people with sight loss. RNIB wants society, communities and individuals to see differently about sight loss.

The funds raised by the players of People's Postcode Lottery will be used for the benefit of blind and partially sighted people in ways that include the following:

  • The RNIB Connect Community

People's Postcode Lottery will help in further developing a nearly 60,000 strong – and growing – community initiative that's a wide network of blind and partially sighted people, their friends, family and peers. It includes projects like community led workshops on subjects such as social media and campaigning and is totally free to join.

  • Connect Radio

RNIB Connect Radio is RNIB's national radio station. Broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Sony Award winning station communicates the needs, interests and aspirations of blind and partially sighted people throughout the UK. RNIB Connect Radio's presenters are all blind or partially sighted.

  • Campaigning and public affairs

RNIB ensures that blind and partially sighted people have a strong voice in local and national campaigning, public affairs and policy. This is a major area of RNIB's work.
