MSF finds out where conditions are the worst and the need is greatest – the places where other organisations are not present. They then set up the necessary medical services, including hospitals and mobile clinics, and train national staff. Their medics carry out over eight million consultations a year. Medical activities range from basic vaccination campaigns to complex surgeries and treatment of neglected diseases like sleeping sickness and kala-azar.
