Children North East

Every day there are children struggling to feel safe, confident and happy.

Children North East provides expert and dedicated support to help them to change their lives. The charity has been helping transform children's lives since 1891. For almost 130 years it's been continuously adapting to the changing needs of childhood and building expertise.

Today four different services deliver more than 20 projects. NEWPIP (Newcastle Parent Infant Partnership) is one of only 27 specialist parent infant relationship teams in the country and the only one in the North East. It offers pyschotherapeutic help to mums and dads struggling to bond with their infants. The Families and Parenting Service runs programmes for those who've suffered domestic abuse. It provides crisis intervention for parents in danger of having their children removed and has a nationally accredited contact centre for absent parents to stay in touch with their children.

Also, Childen North East's Young People's Service offers professional counselling to children and young people with mental health issues, and its schools team delivers Poverty Proofing the School Day to create a level playing field for pupils around the country.
