Canal & River Trust

Canal & River Trust cares for and brings to life 2,000 miles of canals and rivers across England & Wales. They believe waterways have the power to make a difference to people's lives and that spending time by water can make us all healthier and happier.

With ever increasing rates of obesity, stress and declining mental health in the UK, Canal & River Trust is uniquely placed to make a significant contribution to improving the wellbeing of millions of people. Their canals and rivers run through some of the most heavily populated communities in England and Wales, providing accessible green and blue space where it's needed the most.

That's why Canal & River Trust is working with volunteers and communities across England and Wales to transform canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better. They know this will bring wellbeing opportunities to millions.

With over £8 Million in funding received to date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have supported a range of important waterway and wellbeing projects. This includes work on the Cathedral of the Canals Anderton Boat Lift, the educational Let's Fish programme to a national community outreach programme, Community Roots. Projects that support community wellbeing impact through Social Prescribing, Street Art and Community Rehabilitation have also received a boost from players.

Richard Parry, CEO at Canal & River Trust, said, "We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of People's Postcode Lottery which has enabled us to fund a range of vital projects, helping to realise our vision of living waterways that transform places and enrich lives."
